Abstract

An improved method is suggested to determine constant cutting force coefficients, irrespective of the cutting conditions and cutter rotation angle. This is achieved through the synchronization of experimentally determined cutting forces with those from simulations performed by a mechanistic cutting force model and by a geometric uncut chip thickness model. Additionally, the paper presents an approach for the estimation of the runout offset and its location angle based on a single cutting force measurement.
