Abstract
Measurements of absolute differential cross sections for π±d elastic scattering at Tπlab = 64.9 ± 0.7 MeV with an overall accuracy better than ±4% and an angular distribution ranging from 41° to 143° are reported and compared with available calculations. The need for more realistic calculations is emphasized; in particular the Coulomb interaction treatment should be improved before any conclusion is drawn about possible charge symmetry breaking in the strong interaction.
