Abstract

In the first part of the paper, reflection and transmission of elastic wave motion by a single layer of fibers in an unbounded matrix have been analyzed. In the second part of the paper a dispersion relation has been obtained for a fiber reinforced composite with a rectangular array of fibers. Dispersion curves for wave propagation normal to the planes of fiber center-lines display a pattern of passing and stopping bands.
