Abstract

Dynamic modeling of a new type of stair-climbing wheelchair (SCWC) was presented during normal motion and rollover process. A computer simulation of the SCWC motion character made developed based on this dynamic model. Based on energy consideration the rollover prevention energy reserve (RPER) of the SCWC was derived and used as an indication of the SCWC rollover stability. Effect of change of mean angular velocity of the crank on stability of SCWC was analyzed. The simulation results showed that the magnitude of RPER was found to change with different angular displacement of the crank and different mean angular velocity of the crank showed different effect on stability of SCWC.
