Abstract

The authors have investigated the effect of gel inhomogeneity on the chain statistics and dynamics by computer simulations. In order to find the real effect of the inhomogeneity we consider a chain with excluded volume. In the simulation the gel is represented by point impurities distributed at random. The gel concentration is then given by the density of impurities p. The computer simulation is done on a square lattice for 2D. Initially the cage is generated by picking up points at random from a 500 × 500 array. The authors have found that the exponent u that describes the chain radius of gyration Rg with chain length N, is the same as that of chain in the absence of the gel.
