Abstract

Meshfree approximation has been used in a three-dimensional (3-D) numerical simulation of dynamic shear band propagation in an impact-loaded prenotched plate (See Fig. 1). The problem was first studied by Kalthoff [1987], and later systematically examined by Rosakis and his co-workers (Mason et al [1994], Zhou et al [1996ab]).
