Effect of internal friction on biofilament dynamics

The effect of additional "internal" dissipation was examined. It was found that below a characteristic length scale, dissipation can dominate over hydrodynamic friction, making bending mode relaxation times independent of wave number q. Preliminary evidence was also obtained for peculiar dynamics using measurements of bending fluctuations of whole mitotic chromosomes.
