Eigenvalues of the Rayleigh-Bénard and Marangoni problems

A discussion is presented of the eigenvalues of the linear Bénard-Marangoni stability problem. It is shown that the Marangoni number cannot be used as an eigenvalue parameter for the determination of an eigenvector set.
