Abstract

An overview is given of the visual, circular dichroism (CD), and UV-vis evidence for chiral discrimination between D- and L-phenylalanine by (R)-camphorsulfonic acid ((R)-CSA) developed polyaniline. Kinetic studies using a flow-injection quartz crystal microbalance demonstrate quantitatively the enantioselective incorporation of L-phenylalanine over D-phenylalanine. These results support a re-doping type interaction between the de-doped polymer and L-phenylalanine.
