The temperature dependence of the EPR line width of the Mn2+ and Gd3+ in Pb3(PO4)2 is investigated from ‐270 to 500 °C. At the first‐order ferroelastic transition point (180 °C), an abrupt change in the fine‐structure splitting as well as in the resonance line width is observed. Various contributions to fine structure D and E parameters of Mn2+ and Gd3+ are computed, using a point‐multipole model. For temperatures near to Tc the correlation time of the fluctuations is estimated to be greater than 10−9.
