Abstract
Many kinds of friction testing methods were used to evaluate lubricity in metal forming. However, these have not been successful in the realization of typical conditions in metal forming and clear definition of measures for evaluation. In order to establish a fundamental evaluation method, a compression twist friction testing machine was designed. By assessing the lubricity with a twin indenter new measures are proposed to evaluate boundary lubrication characteristics and film strength of lubricants.
