Abstract
The original analog data tapes from Explorer I, America’s first satellite, and Abigail Foerstner's biography of James Van Allen provided the foundations for a website where the newly digitized tapes and their songs of data can be played or downloaded. Abigail Foerstner's wrote 24 episodes of content from the early space age for this multimedia website produced by the University of Iowa. A 2016 exhibit based on the website created an immersive environment of sights and sounds of the opening drama of the space race.
