Abstract

Anesthesia for ear, nose, throat, airway, eye, and dental surgery is among the most frequent anesthetics encountered in children. These cases range from very simple brief anesthetics in healthy children to very complex airway procedures in patients with multisystem disease requiring a significant amount of preoperative planning and communication with the surgeon. This chapter will begin with a discussion of an approach to the child with an upper respiratory tract infection. Then, a discussion of specific ear, nose, throat, and airway surgery, followed by eye surgery, will follow. Finally, anesthesia for dental surgery in children will be presented.
