Abstract
A model for spindle deflection in boring operations has been developed. Subsequently, it was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the single-pass boring operation. The diametral errors in conventional, two-pass, and the newly proposed method have been compared. It has been shown that the single-pass process provides a significant increase in productivity while maintaining the required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
