N2 - The objective of this study is to investigate the fluid-mechanics of counterflow and stagnation-point flow fields produced by finite-jets of laboratory scale. The fluid mechanics of both two-dimensional and axisymmetric opposed-jet flow (OJF) and stagnation-point flow (SPF) with finite separation distance are theoretically and experimentally investigated. In addition, the flow fields of OJF and SPF when the jets undergo rigid-body angular rotation is experimentally studied. All aspects of the laminar velocity fields are examined and in particular, the variation of the rate of stretch with axial coordinate is determined. The experimental and theoretical aspects of the study are described along with results.
