Abstract

The flexural vibrations of a laminated plate are investigated by analysis and experiment. The mechanical behavior of the layered medium is represented by a homogeneous, transversely isotropic continuum whose effective material constants are computed in terms of the material constants and the thickness of the layers. An asymptotic method is employed to compute the frequency of the lowest flexural mode as a power series of the dimensionless wavenumber.
