Abstract

An analytical and experimental study of the effect of a horizontal sliding plane on the dynamic response of a single-story structure subjected to harmonic motion is presented. There is good agreement of experimental with analytical results and both indicate that the sliding effectively limits the intensity of support motion transmitted to the structure.
