Glass-bead-based parallel detection of DNA using composite Raman labels

Abstract

An approach for glass-bead-based parallel detection of DNA was described using composite Raman labels. In a DNA microarray format, glass substrates were spotted with appropriate capture cDNA or synthesized oligonucleotide strands. It was observed that the SERS spectra of the silver-coated nanoparticles exhibit excellent stability during the Raman measurement. It was shown that the composite Raman labels generated via Raman dye mixing on nanoparticle probes could be used in a bead-based random-array format.
