Grooming dynamic traffic in unidirectional SONET ring networks

Abstract

We develop circuit assignment algorithms for dynamic traffic in SONET/WDM ring networks. We show that a significant reduction in the number of SONET multiplexers can be achieved by properly allocating SONET add drop multiplexers to nodes.
