Abstract

The demonstration of high-power quantum cascade lasers emitting at λ = 6.1 μm was presented. A near-perfect lattice match leading to excellent material quality was obtained by accurate control of growth parameters and strain balancing. An average output power of up to 225 mW at 17% duty cycle was shown by the lasers.
