Abstract

In this paper, we review some of the history and recent results related to the development of the quantum cascade laser at the Center for Quantum Devices. The fabrication of the quantum cascade laser is described relative to growth, characterization, and processing. State-of-the-art testing results for 5-11 μm lasers will be then be explored, followed by a future outlook for the technology.
