    Abstract

Using energy-dispersive x-ray diffraction with a synchrotron source we have observed a tetragonal phase of CsCl under high pressure. We have measured ca from VV0=1 to 0.505 ±0.002 which corresponds to a pressure range of 0 to 80 5 GPa. The transition was seen at a volume ratio of 0.530.02 and a pressure of 655 GPa.
