Abstract

From a historic perspective, atopic dermatitis has seen tremendous change in terms of both its understanding and treatment. Although there are suggestions that the disease is far older, the unified concept of atopic dermatitis did not really emerge until far more recently. Even in the modern day, there are many unresolved questions surrounding this disease and its ramifications, making its history of particular importance to clinicians.
