Abstract

The complex mode shapes of a machine tool structure were obtained by the Dynamic Data System method. First, to illustrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation studies were carried out. Next, complex modes of a lathe were identified from the experimental data and animated by digital computer graphics.
