Abstract
Several central nervous system and neuromuscular conditions can lead to loss of normal sleep architecture yielding insomnia as well as other associated sleep disorders. In a bi-directional manner, this itself may contribute to worsening of the underlying condition. This article provides a comprehensive review of the literature to explore the association, mechanism and treatment of insomnia and other sleep related disorders in various neurological, neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders.
