Abstract

This chapter provides an overview and clinical guide for the assessment and treatment of insomnia in women. Emphasis is given to evaluating sleep disturbances related to the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and postpartum period. In addition, considerations for working with transgender individuals and sexual minorities are discussed. Non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment options are reviewed with attention given to modifications, dosing, and timing that are particularly relevant to women’s health.
