Abstract

In this paper a CAD graphics system that analyzes CT scanned images slices and reconstruct 3D images of bones for preoperative surgery planning is described. The purpose of designing this system is to aid an orthopedic surgeon in performing total knee replacement surgery. The first part of the system reads in the CT scan data of patient's leg and perform image analysis. To interact with the surgeon's examination, CT images can be edited and manipulated on a high-resolution monitor for observation. The output of this image analysis will be reconstructed into 3D solid bones by the second part of the system.
