Abstract

The rate and severity of knee injuries in the pediatric population are on the rise. In addition to more generalized knee injuries, the pediatric knee is at risk for unique injuries secondary to the rapid growth and biomechanical properties of the pediatric skeleton. Given the common nature of knee injuries, the pediatrician must be aware of these injury patterns and possess the skills to effectively evaluate the pediatric knee. This article will discuss several of the most common pediatric knee injuries.
