N2 - The synthesis of four novel lanthanide tetraazaporphyrin (porphyrazine) sandwich complexes is reported: [Ce(OPTAP)2] (2), [Lu(OPTAP)2] (3), [Eu(OPTAP)2] (4) and [Eu2(OPTAP)3] (5) (OPTAP = 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18- octapropyltetraazaporphyrinato). The structure of 2 has been unequivocally established by an X-ray crystallographic study. The π radical nature of 3 and 4 has been confirmed by UV-vis, IR, and EPR spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetry results show that 2-5 are more easily oxidized than 1 (H2OPTAP) by 0.41, 0.56, 0.48 and 0.40 V respectively.
