Abstract
A central focus of Larry Alexander’s jurisprudential work has been what he has baptized “the gap, " the paradoxical and seemingly ineliminable divergence between rules and the rationales that support them. This essay explores his explanations for “the gap” and offers some unexpected grounds for thinking it might yet be closed.
