Abstract

A laser-based ultrasonic system consisting of a tunable narrowband laser line-array ultrasound generator and a fiber-optic dual-probe heterodyne interferometer is described. Applications of this LBU system to the detection of cracks and for the tomographic imaging of defects in thin plates are presented.
