Abstract

Intrinsically acentric organic films are becoming a valuable alternative to poled-polymers and inorganic materials such a lithium niobate (LiNbO 3) for the formation of electro-optic devices. The ability to fabricate noncentrosymmetric structures in a molecular layer-by-layer approach offers nanoscale control over film dimensions and allows tailoring of microstructural and optical properties at the molecular level.
