note = "Funding Information: Discovered spontaneous basophil histamine release and histamine‐releasing factor in patients with atopic dermatitis and food hypersensitivity, 1989. Established the causal role of food proteins in eosinophilic esophagitis, 1995. Identification of sequential epitopes on casein and ovomucoid important for phenotypic diversity of milk and egg allergy (1997‐2003) that led to clinical trials of baked milk and egg diets that transformed the approach to managing milk and egg allergy in children, 2008‐2011. Introduced the concept of measuring serum food‐specific IgE concentrations to predict symptomatic food allergy, 2001. Led the efforts that resulted in the publication of the first National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Guidelines on the Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergy , 2010. Established and led the Consortium for Food Allergy Research funded by NIAID that conducted a number of multi‐center rigorous research studies on epidemiology and oral, epicutaneous, and sublingual immunotherapy.
