note = "Funding Information: Elective liver biopsies in potential donors with a mean age of 35 years offer information not previously garnered in the hepatology literature. Ryan et al noted lipofuscin pigment in the hepatocytes of 45% of donors, a finding that raises interesting questions about its pathogenesis. An opportunity exists to pool such new information through the combined efforts of different centers that perform living donor liver donation. A recently launched multicenter effort sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons may provide a vehicle for acquisition of such data.",
