Abstract

Results of highly precise local density FLAPW calculations of the electronic structure and properties of the Tc superconductor, Ba2Sr2CaCu2O8, are presented and compared with the earlier Cu-O systems. Here too, charge transfer excitations (excitons) appear responsible for the high Tc.
