Abstract

The detection of a weak signal in additive white noise is considered. A locally optimum detector based on quantized input samples is derived and applied to radar detection problems. The implementation of this detector involves only simple digital circuits. The needlessness of a postdetection integrator makes it convenient for automatic detection systems. The ARE of the presented detector relative to the conventional quadratic detector is derived.
