Abstract
Longitudinal electro-optic effects in single crystal films of N-(4-nitrophenyl)-(L)-prolinol (NPP) were studied. The thin films was guided and protected by two round quartz plates. It was found that the melt of the NPP observed by the microscope represents a dark region while the seed of the crystal is seen as a uniformly illuminated area.
