Abstract

A new feature (a peak) is found in the magnetic field dependence of the longitudinal ultrasound attenuation in UPt3. Below the peak, the attenuation varies linearly with field. Above the peak Δα = α(Hc2)-α(H) ∼(Hc2-H)2. The peak, at the change over from linear to parabolic behavior, may correspond to a phase transition in the vortex lattice.
