Low phase-noise 40GHz optical pulses from a self-starting electroabsorption-modulator-based optoelectronic oscillator

Abstract

We demonstrate an optoelectronic oscillator using an electroabsorption modulator to generate a low phase-noise 40GHz optical pulse train. The oscillator has a measured phase noise of -100dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset from the carrier.
