Abstract

MnSbSe2I contains layers parallel to the be plane that consist of edge- and corner-sharing MnSe6/2 and MnSe2/2I 4/2 octahedra. Sb atoms are located between these layers and form SbSe3 trigonal pyramids. Owing to the off-center placement of the Sb atom and the inequivalence of the two crystal-lographically independent Mn atoms, the monoclinic MnSbSe2I structure is a distorted variant of the orthorhombic UFeS3 structure type.
