Self-consistent spin-polarized energy band studies with the applied magnetic field included, show Pd metal to undergo a metamagnetic transition in high magnetic fields. The calculated moments and susceptibilities are found to be greatly enhanced for tetragonally ("stretched") Pd as in the Au/Pd/Au sandwiches studied by Brodsky and Freeman and to indicate the possibility of ferromagnetism in tet. Pd.
