Microstructure-Fiber Based Optical Parametric Amplifier in the 1550nm Telecom Band

Abstract

The feasibility of microstructure-fiber based optical parametric amplifier in the 1550nm telecom band was studied. The pulses were amplified by an EDFA to compensate for the loss created by the intensity and the phase modulators. The gain spectra featured two high-gain lobes one on each side of the pump wavelength. The results showed the measured pump-power dependence of the parametric gain at the peak-gain wavelengths of 1552 nm and 1563 nm.
