Abstract
Abdominal pain is a common complaint in a pediatric emergency department. Making the diagnosis of appendicitis in a child can be very challenging. This article will review the literature concerning missed appendicitis and liability. The appropriate documentation of history and physical findings in a patient with possible appendicitis will be reviewed. These suggestions will hopefully improve your documentation and therefore the chances of a successful defense in the event of a lawsuit.
