Abstract
Astrocytomas are the most common primary tumor affecting the adult central nervous system (CNS). Owing to their diffusely infiltrative nature, there are currently no effective therapies. New approaches to targeting signal transduction pathways in astrocytomas are offering some hope for effective treatment. This article will review the different model systems that can be used to identify new therapeutic targets and test their effectiveness against astrocytoma.
