Models of Care and Current Guidelines for Care of Transgender Individuals

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

A multidisciplinary approach is recommended for providing gender-affirming patient- and family-centered care to transgender and gender-diverse youth and their families. Access to specialized multidisciplinary clinics is increasing but is still limited for much of the population. Here, we define gender-affirming care, discuss components of a comprehensive multidisciplinary program model, and review clinical practice guidelines for treating gender dysphoria in adolescence.
