Abstract
Liquid crystalline structures and long range ordered microdomain structures of amorphous block copolymers were combined together to form a block copolymer in which a rigid board-like or rod-like mesogen block is connected to a coil-like chain. These copolymers, containing a mesogenic block and a short block of polyisoprene (PI), polystyrene (PS) or a diblock sequence have been synthesized. Studied in this paper is the copolymer using electron microscopy and electron diffraction techniques in order to reveal the morphology and structure of the rod-coil copolymer and its molecular object.
