Abstract

We describe an experimental technique that allows the simultaneous measurement of the nonlinear refractive index n(2) and the nonlinear absorption coefficient α(2) in waveguides. With minor modifications in the experimental setup, the four-wave mixing gain coefficient can also be measured. Measurements are demonstrated in AlGaAs waveguides.
