Abstract
New reactions and possible applications of phthalocyanine and phthalocyanine-like materials are reported. The synthesis and properties of a uranium ″superphthalocyanine″ complex which contains five rather than four isoindoline subunits in the macrocyclic ring are discussed. Also, it has been found that partial oxidation of a number of metal and metal-free phthalocyanines with iodine yields mixed valence solids with high electrical conductivity. These materials have been characterized by a variety of spectroscopic and structural techniques.
