Abstract
Prolonged hypotension or undue compression over the site of a subcutaneous haemodialysis arteriovenous (AV) fistula may cause thrombosis of the arterialised vein near the anastomosis. This usually precludes further use of the fistula, unless surgical exploration is carried out. We describe here a simple technique whereby the thrombosed vessel can be quickly 'declotted' percutaneously.
