Abstract

Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) has become one of the most pressing clinical problems in the management of patients with heart failure. The ability to effectively manage ADHF is hampered by a number of important limitations: uncertainty regarding diagnosis, lack of sufficient evidence-based treatment strategies, and limited tools to assess the response to therapy. This chapter profiles the role that non-invasive assessment of hemodynamics may have in overcoming these limitations and how it may lead to better management of ADHF.
